Art School Dropout

Threw together this little get up with finds from the thrift store! The painted-like top was such a great find, the white base and drippy paint effect make it a mistakenly made messy masterpiece (say that 5 times fast). Had to make it grunge too despite all the bright colors in the print because I can't leave the house without wearing black these days. Anywho fall is on it's way *duh* but I don't care I'll wear shorts because I'm so obviously a rebel. The sad part is I'm actually not in school at the moment so this title probably fits me better than I'd like to let on. Oops.

Nice Cans

I'm back to blogging! Hopefully this time for real. I never knew how much work actually needs to be put in to running a blog until I started one up myself! You really have to put time aside to take your pictures, edit them and write something that will appeal to your audience. Obviously I still have a lot to learn, this blog is still a baby after all, but I'm excited to learn and absorb as I go. So here's another look I put together for warmer days. The OASAP top I tied around my waist has cans that read "lazy" on them which is fitting since I've been too lazy to blog these days. Also I haven't been able to leave the house without a hat this season and they are becoming my favorite summer accessory! Hats also look really well with my new(ish) haircut. I cut my bangs myself and am actually very pleased with how they came out.

Happy Birthday

I celebrated my 22nd birthday this weekend and you know what that means....... Cake, presents, and being surrounded by people who love you most! I wore this GORGEOUS vintage pastel rainbow night gown as a dress. It's by far the most flawless article of clothing that I own. I paired it with sparkly crystal accessories because everyone needs to shine on their special day! I also received lots of new goodies as gifts so I'll make sure to debut them soon :D

The Secret Garden

I can't help but wear florals during spring. I know, I know who doesn't wear floral prints during spring? But the special thing about this skirt is the variety of prints all on one piece of fabric! There's patches of orange corduroy, plaid in shades of green & pink, dark floral prints, bright floral prints, and strips of ribbon all sewn together flawlessly like windflowers growing in an already tame garden. It's such an amazing piece. I'm so lucky to have found it. I decided to pair it with think pink & orange button up for color scheme purposes as well as my trusty pink & purple color block chunky heels. The tan belt helped neutralize all the crazy colors as well as cinch my waist. And there you have it! A look fit for frolicking in a bed of secret windflowers.

I Woke Up Like Dis

I like to take my time while getting ready to make sure everything is perfect and I am sooooo anal with details that it can take me a while. So when something spontaneous happens and I get invited to tag along while I'm still chilling in my pajamas, I have to act fast! Sweaters are the one item I always gravitate to when I'm in a hurry. You can dress them up or down and add layers to them with ease. I decided to pair my favorite Mickey & Minnie sweater from Disneyland with some ripped shorts because the weather has been really warming up. I added the nude pumps because although this outfit is casual, I don't want it to get mistaken for lazy. And of course the sunglasses because I would rather present some nice aviators than an undone face to my audience.

As for my new, angelic, pastel pink bag I just HAD to debut it already! I used it in this look to add more structure to the whole look so that my outfit looks less thrown together and more put together.

[Native] American Girl

Hello my little tamales! I hadn't posted in a while but I'm hoping that this super colorful/fun/bright outfit can make up for it! This Native American blanket jacket is amaze balls paired together with this neon pom-pom romper. Completely makes me feel like I should be in Mexico eating tacos & drinking chocomil. I also couldn't help but adding flashy gold and turquoise accessories to create more of an Aztec princess vibe. More posts soon to come! Besos!

Mermaid Lullaby

Mermaid Lullaby includes so many of my favorite possessions and I think if there was one look that would describe me it would be THIS look. The minute I laid eyes on these mermaid leggings there were no questions asked whether I should own them or not. They fit like a dream and shine like no other in the sun! I'm so happy to say there hasn't been one moment where I've regretted purchasing them either (especially at Disneyland when Ariel complimented me on them)! As for the pastel rainbow robe, it's a new piece! Well, new for me, it's actually vintage! It's so much dreamier in person and really helped complete the look by delivering that little bit of magic. And the photos don't do the shell lei I'm wearing any justice but  it was hand-made in Hawaii! I haven't worn it since I bought it 8 years ago but it's absolutely gorgeous, just what I needed to complete this sleepy siren look.

Crème Brûlée

Today what I whipped up included lots of sweet, delicate layers. Usually I shy away from wearing too many layers because it can look bulky with my curvy figure but keeping the layers light by mixing delicate fabrics worked better than expected! One of the rules I follow when it comes to fashion is to try something that I usually wouldn't do because, who knows, I might be pleasantly surprised. I ignored the little voice in me that kept saying, "Ok that's enough layers" until the flow of the fabrics achieved a pastry effect. And yes I do look for inspiration in food and in many other unexpected places. It might seem strange but voila! The results are sweet ^_^

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not

Happy first day of spring!! It's felt a lot like spring (summer, really) here in San Francisco so I haven't been able to resist wearing shorts, skirts & rompers. Once the fog rolls in though I'll look back on these days with a tear in my eye. Anyway I picked up this red daisy print romper on Etsy about a year ago and absolutely love how whimsical it is. I just want to run across a field in this onesie carrying a little basket while Florence + the Machine play in the background. Add in some lace details and BAM, the 90's petal plucking nymphette is born!

Dancing With the Daffodils

This look is completely inspired by the flowers of spring including, my favorite, daffodils! These gold shorts can't help but remind me of the way daffodils open up to look at the sun for the first time. Anyway I thought it'd make a romantic and cheery look for a coffee & macarons date. Au revoir mon amours!

Too Pure to be Pink

This going out look is so fun & feminine and if you haven't noticed already from the title it's inspired by Grease! The scene consists of the Pink Ladies making fun of Sandy (in a musical number of course) while wearing chiffon nighties, pastel colored robes, curlers in their hair and siren red lips. Glamorous, even to bed.

Too Pure to be Pink

Also I've been obsessed with using Polyvore lately. It makes putting outfits together SO much easier especially if you're running a blog! I like to "favorite" items in my own wardrobe (or as similar as possible) so that I can virtually put it together and not have to try on a bazillion different clothes. This is probably the closest I'll ever get to having Cher's closet from Clueless. *le sigh*

Treasure Hunting

Second hand shopping is honestly my favorite way to shop. I have found some of my favorite pieces from second hand & vintage stores. They're inexpensive and almost always one of a kind. When you find something you really love it's like finding a hidden treasure. Etsy is great for those days you don't feel like searching through racks & piles of clothes but still want to find something unique at the comfort of your own home. So I decided to put together some of my favorite finds on of both handmade & vintage pieces. Enjoy!

Crystal Clear

Oh the 90s. I can't help but love every ounce of its memories. I used to own a pair of clear purple glitter jellies in the first grade & loved them as much as I loved my clear purple GameBoy Color. I thank the heavens that they're back on the market because the only thing better than enjoying all the things you loved doing as a child is enjoying them as an adult! Say what you will but I will always be a kid at heart & my style makes no exception to that. With all that said I just had to pair my new adult jellies with my clear clutch & holographic muscle t-shirt because HELLO I CAN'T HELP THAT ZENON INFLUENCED MY HOLOGRAPHIC OBSESSION! If you don't know who that is just know you are a deprived child & take this opportunity to YouTube it now.
